Women's Volleyball
Operated as an extramural sport and operated by the university after 1970, operation of women’s volleyball moved to the athletic department in 1977. It has been one of the more popular sports for women at Virginia Tech. Stephanie Hawbecker was the first full-time coach, 1991-98. In 1995 Ginny Lessman (Stonick), who played from 1980-1983, was inducted into the Virginia Tech Hall of Fame, the first women’s volleyball player to receive that honor.
